Bartlett, Tennessee
- August 21, 2000 - "I have tried lunch at Denny's for two weekends in a row. It is located on Stage Road in Bartlett, Tennessee. Dumb me for giving them the benefit of the doubt the second time !!! The first time I counted eight other tables with customers and ninety-nine percent of the open tables needed bused. It took 15 minutes to get drinks and another 15 minutes before the waitress took our order, another 30 minutes to get our food. Needless to say the food was cold and not good at all. The second visit it took 20 minutes before our order was taken, 30 minutes later out waitress shows up wanting to know if we need anything. I told her our food would be nice!! I asked if the cook had begun to work on our order, but the waitress didn't give me an answer. 15 minutes later our food arrived. It was not good and was cold. The waitress told me that two of their cooks had just walked out on them as I had arrived. Looks like not only is Denny's not a good place to eat, but also, not a good place to work either. By the way there was only 5 other customers in the place. Two had already been waited on before my arrival."

- "I went to undergrad at the University of Tennesse in Knoxville and have patroned both Denny's within those 5 years. So obviously that was the first place I checked. I truly enjoyed your account of your visit to the Cedar Bluff Denny's in Knoxville. Here's something big you might have missed however: A couple of years ago, my best friend swore that his waitress at that very Denny's had six fingers (an extra useless pinky finger on one hand). Naturally, I doubted his story, but he went so far as to take me there the next night at around the same time hoping to dispel my doubt. Unfortuantely we didn't see her and I never confirmed his story. However, to this day, he still claims that this really happened." - written prior to September, 1999

- "My best friend, Chris, his wife, myself, and a plastic skull we named "Fred" for reasons best left unsaid, were heading out to Valdosta, GA. , for a weekend camping trip, and decided to stop at Denny's before we left. We belong to a medieval fantasy recreation club called Amtgard and I was already dressed for the trip - blue silk poet's shirt, dark blue cloak, floppy white "guido" hat, and of course, carrying Fred. The looks when we walked in were typical ("Look at that, Martha - freaks!"), but as I do this rather regularly, I wasn't surprised. I was, however, a bit surprised when a man sitting at a nearby table full of college students came over and asked why I was dressed as Hamlet. Realizing the effect that Fred had on my costume, I quickly explained who and what we were, and how he could join. He smiled, thanked us, and went back to his table, were I'm sure someone had to pay up on their bet... The rest of the meal was uneventful, although the waitress was very helpful, even going so far as to give me the name of the very cute waitress at a different station." - written prior to September, 1999

- "Hey, ho!!! "Maid" Marion, my daughter-in-law cleaned her house before going to Nashville's largest hotel to ply her trade.Ê During her shift she heard one of the security guards phoning his wife, "GET YOURSELF AND THE KIDS INTO THE BASEMENT."Ê The tornado ripped through just as her husband called, "Do you want me to come get you?"Ê Of course, the kids are screaming in the background while he makes the call.Ê "NO!Ê I am safer here."Ê was the reply.Ê As the magr. of the hotel politely takes her home, they see that there are trees strewn about, lines down, but as they pull toward a left-hander onto her street, they see that all that is standing is her house.Ê The house she had just cleaned before going to work.Ê To make her feel better about having to crawl over downed 60 foot trees to get inside the house, my son-in-law says, "Lets go to DENNYS."Ê Now, I ask you.Ê Was that the proper thing to do to get on the good side of "Maid" Marion?Ê Or, to make her feel better about the distruction? Have you ever eaten a nervously prepared DENNYS meal?ÊÊÊÊÊÊ AR-R-R-GH!!!Ê (They did not get one thing free.)Ê" - written prior to September, 1999

- "I have lived in Memphis TN for 11 yrs. now. I have always loved Denny's but for the past few years I have been unable to find one in this area that I can say even comes close to the reputation that I have come to know in the past. I have tried the Dennys in my area now, off and on, for three long years and they have been the worst place I have ever been to. Today I tried them again (I like the food at Dennys)and I was furious by the time I left. They had the lousy service I have come to expect but even worst they were rude, slow, and uncaring about how they served anyone. Tables were left dirty while people were trying to get seated and a line grew and grew. I counted a total of 8 tables at one time that needed to be busted. Once it slowed down people were still not being served but all the employees were gabbing up at the cash register (It was a sort of Break time I assume). Our bill was wrong and we had to get it corrected (She acted as though somehow it was our fault that she had over billed us) and to make it even worst, as we were leaving she must have been unhappy with her tip because I overheard her rude comments to the fact ( I went back and picked up the 15% tip I had intended to leave for her and took it home with me). I know that there has to be someone out there that would want to hear this letter and I hope that you can forward this to the right Department. Anyone who walked into that Dennys and had never been to one, would surely never attempt to step through the doors again. I am not a difficult person to please, and I think if anything I give most people and businesses the benefit of the doubt, but I will never walk through the doors of that Dennys again. It is located at I40 and Sycamore View in Memphis, TN. The address is 6090 Macon Cove Store # 6324 and the phone # is (901) 382-7791.I hope this helps someone to see the lack of service that has been provided. Thank you for your time and your help." - written prior to September, 1999

- "If you haven't made it to the Denny's in Memphis, TN at Mt. Moriah & American Way, don't go! The service is pathetic there. We had to wait an hour before we even got our food and the staff was very rude. This was not the first time that something like this happened, a few weeks before that we weren't even served after 25 minutes of sitting at the corner. Denny's was a big disappointment for me." - written prior to September, 1999

- June 2, 2000 - "Mt. Moriah, Memphis Tennessee - It's been a while since this Denny's was worth going to. In Memphis, we generally prefer Perkins or CK's because they're easier to find and have a slightly lower risk of waking up in the back dumpster because you've been molested on your table. The last time I was there, my boyfriend at the time and I decided not to stay because we knew no one, but he went in to use the bathroom. I was left outside with this very large 40-something guy and his friend. They knew my boyfriend, but that didn't make me feel any safer about the fact that I might not be standing there by the time he came back from the bathroom. Most amusing story I've heard happen at this one was my friend Matt beating Ted's head on the table because the food wasn't coming. I guess that's what happens when you let drunk boys go to a Denny's."

- June 2, 2000 - "Stage Center (Kirby Whitten and Stage) Memphis Tennessee - I haven't had the will or the want to enter this one yet. There's just something so strange about seeing a Denny's that doesn't look like a Denny's. It's looks slightly more diner-like than what you want from a Denny's, except that it used to be a restaurant called Black-Eyed Pea. Why anyone would want to convert something into a Denny's, I don't know."

- January 12, 2002 - "I was just visiting Memphis from Canada with my two teenage sons who are hard to please on a regular basis. I just wanted to say that we ate at the Denny's across from the Peabody hotel on Union and got absolutely great service by a waitress named Brenda who the boys talked about for the rest of the day. Although they did admire the ducks at the Peabody after breakfast, they where more impressed with Brenda's service. We got both great service and good food so if anybody is going to Memphis and likes Denny's, make sure to stop in and ask to have Brenda as your waitress."

- June 18, 2004 - "A sign for the "Alway's Open" Denny's still stands at the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Plus Park Blvd. Where's the Denny's you say? Well, no where any more. It used to sit across the street from Draughons Junior College on Plus Park Blvd. I actually ate lunch there with a coworker in August of 2001 and distinctly remember the thick slimy film of grease and dirt on the back of the cloth booth pads, how bad the ceiling was water stained from various leaks, and the gross carpet. The place was, in one word, nasty. The restaurant was torn down in late 2001 and replaced with the office building shown here. You can tell the Denny's was there as the office lot even uses some of the old parking lot lights that are still painted in Denny's colors. No one know's how long the phantom sign will stay up as a beacon to the unknowing who have exited off of I-24 in search of food. Oh hell, there is a Waffle House just across the intersection."

- "Dear Sirs:
I have searched your web site, but did not find a place to send a complaint to..I hope that this will get to you so that I can let you know about a restaurant located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee..
As we entered your restaurant, we noticed that it was warm...We sat down and began to order, I noticed that it was getting warmer...I asked the waitress and she said that the air conditioning system had been out for 3 weeks....This is ridiculous!!
We went ahead and ordered, the food was delicious and the waitress was very hospitable...She served us additional drinks and was very concerned about our well being.... As we began to leave, I noticed a LARGE man eating at the bar with several employees surrounded around him, I thought that this must be the manager... I approached him and asked him if he was the manager, he replied, "One of Them"..I asked him what was the problem with the air conditioner, he replied", We have a new one ordered and it hasn't gotten here yet". I asked him for his own good to purchase fans for the restaurant, that it was ridiculous for the customers and the employees to have to work in such an environment...As we left, I stopped several customers coming in and warned them that there was no air conditioning...several of these customers had small children and were elderly, and had no business sitting in an 85 to 90 degree restuarant....
I can't believe that this would not effect the temperatures in the kitchen for preparing and cooking food, the Health Department, I am sure would have a complaint for this...For your own good, I would check this problem out with the restaurant in Pigeon Forge, and help to see what the real problem is....Our family has always enjoyed your restaurant, and as a good customer, I feel that you needed to know about this problem...." - written prior to September, 1999
