Alamogordo, New Mexico
- "If you plan on visiting tha Dennys resraurant in Alamogordo,NM I hope you are young and patient. This has got to be the slowest, most aggravateing(sp) Dennys on earth. It seems to take forever for them to seat you and the cook is not one that cares when or if he ever gets your order to you. I was there for breakfast this AM, 6-27-98 and it took 5 minutes to seat me and almost 20 minutes to get my breakfast of one of the standard menu items, a slim slam. In the future I will go to the waffle shop next door. They don't have the slim slam but they have everything else and you don't have to wait untill lunch to get yor breakfast!" - written prior to September, 1999

- "The Vampire Denny's. My friends and I were driving cross-country straight from Costa Mesa, California to Arlington, Texas to visit our relocated buddy. A little while after dawn, Saturday, we pulled into Albuquerque, NM to try to find an open auto-repair shop to take a look at our ailing van (the fuel injection was hosed and we were being passed by Volkswagen Bugs going uphill even with the pedal floored). It was too early to find any auto places open, so we decided to get some eats at the local Denny's. No Weird Al here, but something better -- the restaurant was staffed *entirely* with gOTH cHICKS! My waitress even asked about my Front 242 T-shirt and we traded concert experiences. This was a real trip. Even trippier is the fact that the Denny's in Huntington Beach, CA is the same way! Are there any others out there?" - written prior to September, 1999

- "This will be my second entry to this site. Somehow, I must be blessed to have had at least more than one Denny's story to tell. The rock band I was in at the time (twenty years ago) had made its way from the deep South (see Montgomery, Alabama) to Farmington , New Mexico. After we finished playing our first night at the nightclub, we sought out and found the Farmington Denny's for breakfast before we went back to our hotel. We obviously looked like a rock band. We went through pains to look like freaks. It came with the job. Upon entering Denny's we were greeted by a hostess. A pleasant enough young lady, she was pulled aside by another woman and told "Let me take care of these guys". She introduced herself as the "Night Manager". I just knew at that moment she was going to tell us to get out. Instead, she motioned for us to follow her back to the curtained area (Could be used for private parties or overflow). There were at least two tables which were also occupied by customers. She wasted no time in telling the parties at each of those tables that they would have to re-locate in the main dining area. She seated us, asked us if we wanted breakfast, and proceeded to have breakfast foods brought to us in mass quantities. There were platters of pancakes and bacon brought to us. Omlettes of nearly every description were offered to us. Bottomless coffee pots and pitchers of orange juice and milk were put before us. It seems the manager had taken a rather strong liking to the weird looking musicians from Texas. As it turned out, she was a transplant from Ft. Worth and as result we were treated not only to breakfast every night on Denny's, but we were also invited to party with her during the day. Free food ...OOOHHH YEAHHHH !!!! It was a good two weeks." - written prior to September, 1999

- January 23, 2005 - "Interesting site you have here. I go to the “Denny's on Central” in Albuquerque. Surly the most interesting here in ABQ. I've only been a regular at Denny's (on Central) for about 6 months. But they are already trying to get me to work there. Since I'm still in High School, I tend to only go there on non-school nights. Let me rephrase that. I tend to go EVERY non-school night. Many times I am there 10 or 11 hours, over the graveyard shift. I drink coffee (free!) and read and sometimes do work, but I mostly chit chat with the workers. And I always leave really good tips (if I have the money), and many times they try to refuse to accept it. They joke around with me always going there saying stuff like “You come here more than I'm here!”. These are people that still go there on nights off. Or they'll just stare at me for a minute or so then say “Go Home!” But it all turns out well and good. All (if not all, almost all) the workers were regulars before they started working. They say it's almost inevitable for me to work there because at this one, almost every regular (the good ones at least) are doomed to work there sooner or later. Just last night they bribed me with some money to sweep the floor after a vicious bar rush. I never understood why I always go to Denny's since I live 20 minutes away driving on the freeway on the other side of town and there are at least two Denny's on the way or closer… What is this compelling Denny's magnetic force?"

Carlsbad, New Mexico
- January 6, 2001 - "I recently tried to enjoy myself at my home town Denny's, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. To my dismay the restraunt had greatly decreased in service. We were a medium group of teenagers, on a Friday night. We wanted to go somewhere, smoke free, alcohol free, and drug free, our first thought Denny's. We arrive, take a large booth in the back, the restraunt is not busy maybe two or three other tables with couples. Our waitress, a sweet girl I will say, took our orders, and had our food back rather quickly. Our group began to grow as more and more teenagers showed up, and with each teenager we ordered more food, furthermore increasing our bill. Finally one teen arrives without money and unable to buy anything. The manager, would not come out and tell the boy herself that he had to leave, but she sent the waitress who was having fun with us, to force him to leave. After being at Denny's for forty-five minutes our waitress arrives at our table distraught, she informs us that her manager pulled her off to the side and yelled at her for not giving us a certain time limit, which was the new policy on teenagers, that they have a time limit while being in Dennys. We were informed that we had thirty minutes to finish our food and leave. We left our waitress a ten dollar tip and we left shortly not wanting to put anymore strain on the woman. I am wondering is this a new form of discrimination? Are teenagers being persecuted like the African Americans in the nineteen-forties? Denny's discriminated against African Americans in their restraunt, and apparently now they have decided, it is time they discriminate against teens. "

- "Eric Iverson here, saying that I just loves me the Denny's in Las Cruces, NM: Hangout Numero Uno for the Ars Nova Guild; an Electronic Music/Video Performance/Flamethrower wielding group from NMSU. We would pile into there at improbable hours after a night of blowing up TV sets out in the desert, and would often take over enormous archepelagos of tables in our savage pursuit of chili cheese fries. During the Denny's racial discrimination flap, they put up this big poster signed by all the staff pledging not to discriminate. I dared my friend Chris to add a signature to it, so he went up and signed "Malcom X." Well, it was funnier at 3 in the morning at the cusp of a pancake syrup buzz. Cashier: "How was the key lime pie." Me: "Oh, OK. But were there supposed to be bones in it?" Again, you prolly had to be there." - written prior to September, 1999

- " If you haven't been here yet----SKIP IT! They advertise a welcome to all including busses but then when you arrive they treat you very rudely. The service was terrible and the the Manager, Isabel, was very unprofessional. From now on we'll go to whatever is next door!" - written prior to September, 1999

- "Worst experience at a Denny's I've had. "Greeter" said nothing! waited for me to start the conversation, and made NO response to my information. Only word I heard was my name when our table was ready. Server continously apologized for poor service. Had to flag him down to get coffee initially and refills. Food quality marginal. Had to ask for syrup for pancakes -- table containers were empty. Skip this one...they don't care!!" - written prior to September, 1999

Socorro, New Mexico
- "The Denny's here is incredibly understaffed, but if you like an early morning breakfast you can do well - but be there before 7 (though you can get a MUCH better breakfast at the "El Camino" just down the road a bit - try the Breakfast Burrito there). It used to be a student hangout for New Mexico Tech, but the management got cranky about lots of students there not spending a pile of money so they started actively discouraging the kids. Often a good place to find the local state cops." - written prior to September, 1999

- "For a Denny's populated with interesting people, try the one here. To give you a glimpse of this one's track record: has a waiter that if you talk friendly to him, will give you free h.f. sundae; has had a lunatic graduate student from the local college beat up the newspaper machine outside; and was closed by the health department and had to be bagged and fumigated due to the fact that pigeons were getting into the AC system, dying, and rotting in the ducts. And as a bonus, after the summer thunderstorms started two summers ago, the same pigeons and ceiling crashed down into the dining area when the ceiling panels let go due to leaks. Aside from all of that tho', the staff is friendly and the food is actually pretty good!" - written prior to September, 1999

Tucumcari, New Mexico
- " Don't visit the Denny's in Tucumcari, NM ( on historic Rte 66 ) This is located in my hometown and as a teenager I even worked there. When I worked there we were told that the customer was right and always be courteous! Not the motto these days!!!
Last night (04/16/98) at about 9:30 p.m. a group of High School Concert Band students, decided to gather at the Denny's and eat a late supper and enjoy the company of their friends...I am the proud mother of two of those students and I and my sister joined the kids.
After spending a great deal of money for poorly prepared food and terrible service (none of which was complained about) the manager came over and told us that someone out of the other possibly 8 people who were in there, complained that we were too noisy. We were laughing, no one was foul, and no one was disrespectful.... we were just laughing and talking about the concert, the movie "Titanic" and just having good, clean fun...We were told to be quiet!
Well, if I had a baby that was crying, no one could have done a thing about it. But, laughing is not something Denny's is going to tollerate!
We got up and explained to the 3 ton manager, that we could have complained about the terrible service and food, but we didn't, and we didn't have to come back and spend a fortune there. I also explained to her that when my kids are out of control, I will address it...not her!
I also pointed out that it is grown-ups like her and whomever complained that push teens to go out and spend their time partying and cruising, doing God only knows what, because they are not welcome or recieved well by adults in public environments.
I personally would rather spend time with kids and teens who know how to laugh... not stuck up, hard nosed, bitter, angry, socially retarded old people (including the Denny's management).
I would also like to add that all these kids are intelligent, talented, straight A students and should have been commended for their goodness and not rejected.
Please, if you know the address of the Denny's home offices, feel free to forward this message to them. Thank you and good luck on your ventures...and watch out for the ugly, old, mean people out there." - written prior to September, 1999
