Ashville, North Carolina
- "Well, the Denny's I'm accustomed to visiting is in Asheville, NC (on Patton Ave). And, absolutely no lie whatsoever, Weird Al Yankovich [sic] Himself was seen in the site several months ago, Hawaiian shirt and all (this amazing piece of news was passed to me by Mike Gelman, gelman@cheta.net). I'm not talking about a clone of the man.. this was the real deal. I think he was in town handling some business (Asheville is an unsuspected site for a lot of strange activity like this)." "She was in the SERVICE?!?!" What the hell kind of answer was that! Maybe you had to be there....
BTW, there's a guy who is at that particular Denny's EVERY night. He's a rather large guy with a goatee, glasses and logish curly hari. We've dubbed him Denny. Check him out!" - written prior to September, 1999

- January 11, 2001 - "I do not work at ,own ,love or hate Denny's Restaurants. However, if you are interested I have a story about this particular store.
The first time I set foot in a Denny's I was 25 years old. My sister in law was a waitress there and I happened to be home from my cross country truck driving job. She said she wanted me to come up for lunch and meet somebody.I was single and the person to meet was a female so naturally I agreed. After a quick shower I combed my hair, put the top down on my convertible and began having second thoughts. If you have ever been on a blind date then you know exactly what I'm talking about. What am I getting into. How ugly or goofy is this person.
Well as it turns out I sat in the center table by the waitress station,I don't remember what I ate but I do remember this lady manager (who looked nothing like Saint Al of Yankovich) and I, a bashful person who rarely speaks more than a sentence if not necessary, talked for over three hours.
To make a very long story short that is the last date I have ever been on as we got married and now have three children and a grandson.
So if I must say something bad about Denny's I would have to tell you that they ruined my dating life. However, they also made me a very happy man. She still works in this restaurant so if you ever get back out this way let me know and I'll see if I can get you some free Denny's stuff or at least a fresh cup of coffee and good service."

- "I visited Denn'ys on 4/1/99 with my boyfriend and our kids. We were contemplating eating at the K&W Cafeteria and now I wish we had! It only took about 5 minutes to be seated, but then the wait for a waiter was unbelievable. After the waiter took our order, it seemed like an eternity before our food came and then my boyfriends food was wrong. They had 2 waitstaff and 1 cook, and it was only 7:00pm. Every single table in the establishment was dirty, and the manager was playing cook. I was so disappointed and when I paid our bill, $32.98, and left the waiter a $5.00 tip, I had spent almost 1 1/2 hours and $40.00 at Denny's. I am very sorry that I graced the doors of that particular restaurant, most of them are pretty good. I called the 800 number on the bottom of my bill to complain, I get a voice mail and I leave a message. Here it is 4 days later and still no return call from the District Manager at all. I will not go to Denn'ys again until I receive a call from someone explaining why the service was so lousy and the place so nasty. "

- October 8, 2000 - "Alright. I tried not to visit this Denny's (the ONLY Denny's in a town of 400,000) too often. It only took forever to get seated. Then, once you did, good luck getting food or your order put in for that matter. I usually ended up with the gay waiter named Michael. Nice boy but slow as hell. The sweet tea is always in need of a few more packets and the moons over my hammy of a few more slices of ham. As for the french toast..well, soggy has to do I guess. Tho I must admit, the day before I joined the military, the waitress we had did an excellent job on getting me everything I wanted. This Denny's sucks. I would recommend Jake's instead."

- "I was shocked when I found this web site! My name is Maurice and I am a server/host at Denny's in Greenville, North Carolina. We have a pretty good crew, though no one looks like Weird Al Yankovic (but one of our managers is named Al). You should pay a visit here (we're the only Denny's in Greenville). The address is 808 South Memorial Drive, Greenville, NC 27834. And if you do come by, tell them that Maurice Blue sent you. And if I wait on you, I'll set you up right." - written prior to September, 1999

Moorsville, North Carolina
- " As I was attempting to write a paper a couple of nights ago, I decided to look up Denny's on the net, seeing as how I had just been to our local establishment (Mooresville, NC) and felt inspired. Myself and my friends have several things in common with you and yours... most notably our growing collection of Denny's gear. We haven't acquired too many things, though we have gotten a couple of pitchers, glasses, and, most notably, a couple of Show-Time Gaffneys (Harlem-Globe Trotters promotion) displays. We are trying to furnish our apartment's living room entirely with Denny's stuff, as if it were a Denny's. Our ultimate crowning achievement will be the acquisition of the "Golden Spatula" award over the kitchen. Alas, we recently lost our main contact at the local Denny's, shortly after we got the second Gaffney. The circumstances of her dismissal were not fully disclosed. Do you have any suggestions in acquiring a new contact? We miss Angela." - written prior to September, 1999

- June 11, 2000 - "Raleigh is a college town and they seem to do a lot of trade with that group. Also, the bar crowd comes in after hours so, the after dark hours are usually steady, if not downright busy. There are actually a few modern fixtures threatening to disrupt the "Brady Bunch" ambiance of the restaurant. The restaurant is not all that clean, though it doesn stop short of filthy. The bathrooms are pretty decrepit. I've actually been served by a waitress at this restaurant that was at least 3 sheets to the wind."

Spindale, North Carolina
- "My wife and I visited Spindale Denny's at 1:30 PM Sunday, April 11, 1999. We waited upon by an African American. We were seated in a booth that was not clean. The seats were covered with food particles, and bread crimbs. We helped clean the table and seats. The floors were covered with trash paper, food particles, and soiled with spilt coffee/coke. This was the filthiest restuarant we have ever been in for a meal. The waitress scowled and complained that we were too slow in ordering. Then thirty minutes later our orders were served cold. The egg order was wrong. The sauages and bacon looked sickly. The pancakes were small, large, and medium. When we complained about this and the time it took to geyt our orders the waitress place her hands on the pancakes to feel for heat. This was a frightening experience to see a waitress place her hands on our food. We knew that she had just came out of the rest room.
We are both in our seventies. We have always championed equal rights. The young blacks seemed to have a program of abuse set aside for elderly people. Certainly this waitress appeared to feel so. However, we have noticed this attitude across the area increasing daily. Yes! We are still active, but we feel that we no longer have a place in Denny's, or even in this country. Don't think we will let this incident go. No! We have called the Healty Dept., and Denny's also. Not much hope for any corrections. We will never stop in any Denny's resturant again. We will note this event in our Church, and see that all of our associate Churches hears about it. Goodbye Denny's." - written prior to September, 1999
