Lincoln, Nebraska
- June 11, 2000 - "Lincoln is a "city" of 250,000 people but we seem to have a problem maintaining more than one Denny's at a time. I guess the market here is too saturated with Village Inns and Perkins. The one Denny's that still stands in located about three blocks from the airport. (interesting sidenote: It's easier to drive 45 minutes to fly out of the omaha airport than it is to find a flight out of lincoln, but in case of emergency, Lincoln is the third resort for the Space Shuttle to land here) It use to be (and still may be and I'm just not aware any more) that the BBS addicts would hold "modemers coffee" every saturday night at midnight at Denny's. The modemers we start to gather starting at 11pm and some would stay for the long haul til dawn. The staff knew they were coming and always seems to have this look of dred as the number of people grew. But who can blame them? Would you want to wait on people talking about Mountain Man is sleeping with PussyFoot while Boardman watches? Not to mention that computer dorks tend to lack in the art of tipping from time to time. It had been an established routine for over 5 years when Denny's finally got sick of the situation and banned the group. Last I heard, they flocked across the street to the airport Perkins instead. So if you are ever driving across Nebraska on Interstate 80, take the airport exit and visit the Denny's. They could use the business."

Omaha, Nebraska
- "There's one Denny's in Omaha, my hometown, but the address escapes me. All I know is that it is on 84th Street. It's a quality establishment... well, not really, but it is a Denny's.
My Lincoln phone book tells me there is a Denny's at 3031 N W 12 (whatever that means), phone number (402) 474-0222. I've never been there, but next time I hang out with someone with a car, I'll cruise it." - written prior to September, 1999

- "Went to the Denny's in Omaha (the one on Maple near the Sizzler on 84th Street) a couple weeks ago. This Denny's trip was a little stranger than normal.
The girl (name unknown to us, perhaps even to her) that took our drink order came back a few minutes later to tell us we'd have to wait a few because they were washing the glasses. Hmm. Waiting for the glasses to be washed left us all with some mixed feelings -- we were hot and thirsty, but could we live with the alternative?
A few moments later a quiet, shy, fellow (I think his name was Eduardo, or something like that) came up to take our order. I looked in his hand for the telltale greasy order pad and he had none. I paused, allowing him time to get it out. He didn't. OK. He listened intently as the four of us gave our orders -- with the usual bevy of substitutions ("Can she have french fries instead of mashed potatoes?"). When we finished the order, he smiled and walked back into the kitchen. Now that's an interchange I would have liked to have seen. Verbal order to the cooks at a Denny's. Hmm.
Of course, we had the obligatory elderly couple that were seated after we had ordered, ordered, got their food, ate it, and left before we even got ours. Sometime I want to find out how they do that.
The food came -- every little nuance of the order followed to the letter. Nothing was amiss. That's not the Denny's I know and love! I was starting to actually be impressed until my youngest daughter cut into her ham and cheese omelet and the ham had been burnt to a crisp on one side -- inedible. Ahh! Denny's!" - written prior to September, 1999
