Blue Springs, Missouri
- November 2, 1999 - "There is a Denny's on 7 hiway and I-70 in my little town. I am a 19 year old English and Education Major at Central Missouri State University. I've spent about 20 hrs a week at that Denny's for the past like 4 years. The food's not the best--it is Denny's after all--but what better atmosphere to lounge in for hours upon hours upon hours upon...anyway. The ceiling leaks and my favorite manager just moved to Mississippi--Anita! we miss you!--Usually me and my friends would go to Denny's at about 10 o'clock every Friday and Saturday night. We'd stay for a couple of hours while deciding what we were going to do. We'd go do something, and then come back to Denny's for the rest of the night. During the week, Denny's is a good place for unlimited coffee and quiet for studying."

Cape Girardeau, Missouri
- June 6, 2001 - "This is a Denny's that just opened up in the town where I go to university. It's a Denny's Diner that occupies the building that used to house a Shoney's. While this is billed as a Denny's Diner, thankfully the interior & exterior look just like any other new, regular Denny's. The only "diner" trapping I noticed was a jukebox near the door. The restaurant's seating area is massive -- two large dining areas, with more possibly around the side where I couldn't see. Service was agonizingly slow, and our waitress refused to let me get two orders of fries as my sides for the chicken strip dinner. This is the only place that's ever happened to me. So the food was overcooked & the portions were tiny. No WAY was sighted. Not the best Denny's experience ever, but it was just nice to finally have one in the town I spend so much time in. Let's just hope the service improves."

Columbia, Missouri
- "There used to be two Dennys in Columbia, but one of them apparently burnt down (it was attached to a Red Lion's Inn). The other one, though, has nice waitresses, a surfer-dude waiter, and the most bitter janitor I've ever met (he may be a WAY lookalike, if WAY were in his late fifties). As Columbia's a college town, it's nearly impossible to get a seat after 1am (when the bars close and the frat boys need somewhere to feed their women before raping them). Noone makes any hassle about three-hour + stays, which is nice." - written prior to September, 1999

- "I would like to put in a plug for the Denny's in Columbia, MO. It is a fine little Denny's with many stressed out college students frequenting it for a much needed cup of coffee before that all-night cram. Before this August, I was a Denny's virgin...a guy I was dating took me there to study. I loved it...I am now a Denny's loveslave...but committed to my Denny's in Columbia. So, please come visit the Denny's in Columbia, MO...you won't regret it." - written prior to September, 1999

Fenton, Missouri
- "Im (we are) opening a new Denny's in Eureka Missouri 25-30 miles west of st louis. I would love it if you came in and ask for me to wait on you! My sister in law works at the one in Fenton, Missouri (closer to st louis about 15 miles east of eureka). You can stop in there and ask for Jocelyn. My name is Niki Ladymon I would love to meet you. I think it is a riot that you want to go to all the denny's in the world. They just opened a store in Canada and next week they are heading over to Japan to open 2 stores." - written prior to September, 1999

Joplin, Missouri
- April 20, 2001 - "I noticed that you visited the Denny's in Joplin, Missouri back in 1996. I also noticed that you didn't have much to say regarding that particular establishment. Unfortunately, I did not become a devotee of the Denny's in Joplin until August 1997 when I transferred to Missouri Southern State College. However, since having done so, I can no longer think of a better place to go for conversation, quiet time, studying, drunken laughter, and so forth. There's just something about the Denny's in Joplin that feels like home. I myself have been to several different Denny's in a few states (though I must humbly admit that my number is much fewer than yours) and none of the others i've visited rank anywhere near the one in Joplin. Yeah, sure, the service sucks (as does the food, except for the chicken quesadillas) but that's part of the attraction. I haven't had to pay for my coffee in more than a year, and i haven't paid for any food item whatsoever in 6 months. I also thought i'd tell you that I was lucky enough to score one of the rubber Denny's mats from just outside the front door of the restaurant. I didn't know if you or anyone else had the opportunity to get one of those. I could send you a photo of it if you like. Let me know. "

Lake Ozark, Missouri
- "While trying to find a way to get word to denney's h.q. I stumbled across your page.Ê If you can forward this to the boss or can tell me how to do so, I'd appreciate it.
There is a new (less than a year) denney's in my neighborhood.Ê It's at the corner of U.S. hwy 54 and business route 54 in Lake Ozark, Missouri.Ê (About 60 miles south of the state capitol of Jefferson City.)
Ê A couple days ago I had a craving for a big breakfast.Ê I decided to try denney's once again because, although the food is usually surprisingly good, I've always had a problem there with service, cold, slow to respond, delayed refills, etc.
Anyway, they seated me once they realized a customer was in the store and brought me two cups of coffee...one by the hostess and one by the waitress.Ê (Not much communication?)Ê After several minutes, the waitress came back to take my order.Ê I asked for eggs benedict and orange juice...and a refill on the coffee.Ê She said she'd be right back.Ê
She called in the order and a bit later I heard "86 on the English muffins".Ê The waitress came back and said she was sorry but they were out of English muffins and would I accept toast instead?Ê (no coffee.)Ê I said I'd take white toast and could I have a refill on the coffee.Ê She exclaimed "Oh, right, I forgot the coffee...be right back!)Ê After a bit, she came back and asked if I had said white or whole wheat.Ê I said white and could I have a refill on the coffee?Ê She said she'd be right back.Ê
She put in the order and, believe it or not, brought some coffee.
a bit later she came back, slid the plate in front of me, plopped down the check and said she was going on break.Ê I looked at the plate and told her to hang on, that I thought there should be Canadian Bacon with eggs benedict.Ê She let out and invective and grabbed the plate.Ê I told her to cancel the eggs benedict (because I knew they'd just pick up the eggs and throw some bacon under it and everything would be cold when it got back).Ê I said change the order to two eggs over easy, crisp bacon and hash browns, and could I have a refill on the coffee?
She went back to the kitchen and told the chef about the change (with much impatience in her voice) and went to the manager to get the check changed.Ê Later, the manager came over and apologized for the bacon caper saying it was her fault, she always forgot the Canadian bacon on eggs benedict.Ê I said it wasn't unexpected, I have always had a problem with my orders in that store and could I have some more coffee?
They brought me some coffee and then the waitress returned with the plate.Ê She, more or less, threw it in front of me and headed out the door on break.
I started to eat.Ê Hot, tasty coffee in the cup, what more could you ask?Ê About the third bite down, I came across a hair about an inch and a half long.Ê I had a cap on and shave my head so I know it wasn't mine.Ê Also, what hair I did have was wavy and this one was coarse and kinky.Ê
So, not wanting to go through the whole proceedure again, I set the hair on a napkin and finished the breakfast.Ê It really was quite good.
When I finished, I took the check and the napkin to the checkout where I got a strange look from the manager.Ê She said nothing except to repeat the price.Ê At that point, I showed her the napkin and the hair and told her where I had found it.Ê She simply said "Sir, I won't charge you for the breakfast".Ê I said "you won't have to worry about again, because I'll never come back".Ê No further comment from anyone.
So, that's my most recent experience at Denney"s restaurant.Ê As I said, I'd really like to get this to the main office because I'd like to be able to eat there again.Ê I do like the food, they just need to become somewhat more customer oriented." - written prior to September, 1999

Lamar, Missouri
- "Hey, thought I'd let you know I have a link to you on my page.I am trying to be an expert on all types of fast food, any food for that matter. I am a cockerspaniel that lives in Lamar, MO (southwest Missouri). There is a Denny's being built right now just outside of Lamar about a half mile from my doghouse. They are hoping to be open by 1/15/95 but it may be February before they open. Can't wait to try Denny's food (do they allow dogs inside?). If not, maybe Papa can bring me some! My homepage is http://www.angelfire.com/ma/Ma. Gotta go now, too much typing gives me carpal paw syndrum." - written prior to September, 1999

Sedalia, Missouri
- September 24, 2000 - "Hi My name is Charity, and I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that There is a Denny's Diner (2000) opening tomorrow here in Sedalia, MO. I am a waitress there, and I think this is close to the best job atmosphere I have ever had. We have trained for a week, so that we will be totally ready for the opening. And, the Star Trainers were great. The trainer for days was a girl named Tonya, She's from Lees Summit and she made everything enjoyable. We learned everything we need to know, and learned how to be 100% hospitable! So, If You are in the area, stop by and see us! You will not regret this dining experience!:)"

St. Charles, Missouri
- "The worst Denny's I have ever experienced was the St Charles MO. 5th St. The service was very bad. The place was a mess!. I called there 800 number and was told that was a franchise store and they did not want to do anything about it." - written prior to September, 1999

- December 12, 2000 - "Hi! Love your website! I have a few things to say about my Denny's experiences here in MO. After reading the horrible review on the Denny's in St. Charles (5th St) I just knew I HAD to write & add my experience.
Yes, I'd have to admit that that is the worst Denny's I've been to as well, although my experience w/Denny's in general (in MO) has not been great. Don't get me wrong, I love the food...Anyway there was a group of about 18 of us that arrived at Denny's on 5th St in St. Charles after a concert. It was around 11pm...restaurant not very crowded...there were maybe 8-10 tables w/people...until WE arrived. I got the impression they were short-staffed that night. They came to take our drink orders...and even brought us all the correct drinks. Then they took our food orders...Not only did it take about 2 hours for our food to get to the table, BUT I ordered a GardenBurger, and the guy sitting next to me ordered a Grilled Cheese sandwich. We were the LAST 2 to be served at our table. We inquired about our food at least twice (I was hoping our orders hadn't gotten lost amongst the others) and were assured that our food was "on it's way" 1/2 hour later our GardenBurger & grilled Cheese arrive...and...the grilled cheese is COLD, and the cheese isn't melted! We were too hungry by this time to complain. My roommate asked if we'd get a discount on our food for all of the inconvenience (several people were served the wrong food, etc) The waitress threw her a dirty look, smiled & said "No..." When we finally left to pay, the computer was broken and they had to manually separate our checks...it took another 1/2 hr for us to check out! I do not think I'll be patronizing THAT Denny's ever again! Not even an apology for the poor service! Did I mention that an hour after we'd been there 4 guys walked in, ordered food, ate it, paid for it and were gone before our food even CAME?? Disgusting!
And as far as the Denny's in St. Louis goes...(that one is very near my house) I've never gotten food out ov there very fast regardless of how many people are in the restaurant. If we go there we figure 1-1/2 hr wait for food. One time we waited 3 HOURS for our food. I never go to Denny's if I'm hungry any more. The one at I-55 & Lindbergh (Arnold) is good, haven't had too many problems there, and the waitresses seem rather competent. Likewise I've had rather positive experiences w/Denny's in KS, IL, and IN.
Hope you've enjoyed my little rant!"

- "One fine February night in 1987, I walked into a Denny's #0677 after Rocky Horror here in St. Louis (back when it was at the Varsity Theater, regrettably destroyed long ago). I sat down opposite a gorgeous young red-head named Sharon who had seen me playing Riff that night. Three years later, we got married. We will celebrate our 7th anniversary this July. On a side note, about Denny's #1555 - yes, they are always stupid snobbish boors. That Denny's almost made be swear them off." - written prior to September, 1999

- "I live in St. Louis and I have been in the Watson Denny's several times (it's near Crestwood Mall by the way) and your evaluation is right on the mark. Your waiter Craig kicked us out once because the previous night he was unhappy with our tip ("Ya get bad service ya gotta complain"). He even tried to pick a fight with me, but I was with some big hombres that scared him off. There are several BETTER Denny's in the area, including one at Lindbergh and I-55 near South County Mall and a few in North and West St. Louis County. The Hampton Denny's is considered one of the worst only because it's ALWAYS packed. They best Denny's we ever had was off of I-44 and Big Bend (not far from the Watson one) but it closed in early 1996 for some unknown reason." - written prior to September, 1999

- September 10, 2002 - "I have been to about every Denny's in the Saint Louis area, and I have got to say that the one on 270 and Dorsett is the best. The host was excellent during a very busy part of the night...after 1 a.m., when the bars locally let out. we were seated in a very timely manner. The server , Charles, was very fast and responsive, even though he had at least 6 full tables of guests,we got food and drinks in exactly 14 minutes. The manager on duty, a young blond woman, was everywhere, running the entire show . I was very impressed with this Denny's. It puts the rest to shame."

- May 31, 2003 - "Denny's St. Louis-Dorsett Road and Highway 270 - This is one of the better Denny's restaraunts in St. Louis , if not the best. Very clean unlike 5th street or Watson Denny's. The waitstaff and management there are very attentive and quick. Great blonde haired woman on nights that runs a tight ship in a very fast paced environment. Nights at Dorstt Denny's could be the best place to people watch in St. Louis. It's hilarious."

Troy, Missouri
- September 3, 2000 - "Just had the worst dining experience at the Denny's in Troy, Missouri (not far from St. Louis). Ordered something called a Dagwood sandwich. Got something that resembled a Dogfood sandwich. Totally yuck. I asked the waitress what it was and she didn't know. I asked for the cook. He was busy. I asked for the manager; he didn't know what it was. Said they wouldn't charge me for it. Oh, how heartwarming that was. Like I'd have paid for a Dogfood sandwich. Offered to fix me something else. Noooo thank you. Our entire table felt a bit ill after the whole episode, as did the folks at the table next to us waiting for their meals to arrive at their table. It's difficult to keep an appetite going when you see a not-so-tasty sandwich like that served up next to you---let alone in front of you. Still don't know what it was.... and neither did their employees. I just know that we won't be stopping at a Denny's in the future."
