Burnsville, Minnesota
- "Since the tender age of fifteen I have patronized this establishment, the "Cheers" or my cohorts and companions. I have witnessed three renovations, and multiple staff turn-overs throughout my decade of intravenous coffee consumption.
Denny's of 13 as it stands now is in its prime of operation. The menu is the same, but the people are what make it what it is today. The management are patient and non-judgemental. The staff are friendly and expedient, albeit completely aware that we are there for hours, running a tab that wouldn't even buy a pack of Marlboros. They are hipsters, they are jokesters, they are the "Elite" of the Denny's militia. Particular homage must be expressed for "Mom," Phil (aka "Butch"), Carol, and the newer girl whose name I have yet to catch--getting a job has tapered my frequency, as well as my acute name-badge reading skills.
This is the Denny's that, when the bar-rush encroaches, or the little-league lets out, and the place jams up, allows you to serve your own water or coffee. . .kudos to our servers!
Be respectful and couterous, and the salads are big, there are more strawberries on the pie, and the soda carried via pipeline to your table. A bad day does not stop this suburban Minneapolis store from affording us the sincerest of service, rain, shine, tornado, or air-raid.
Indeed, our friends at Denny's on 13 are true companions--family.
As for "Al," I would say this culinary specialist is more of a cross between Weird Al and Tom Hanks (in his 70's porno theater flashback in the film "Philidelphia"). " - written prior to September, 1999

- June 13, 2000 - "Locally, it would always be Perkins where myself and my college friends would adjourn after Role Playing game sessions. However, Denny's has shown up and -on several occasions- my friends and I have driven up Central Avenue to "the Strip" that includes Ground Round, La Casita, White Castle and -of course- Denny's. The food there is acceptable and their Egg's Benedict is usually what I end up ordering. The only problem is, I have sworn to never set foot in that establishment again.
About a year ago, while recovering from one of my rare illnesses, I awoke knowing that I had no energy with which to make breakfast. However, eating well is the first step in making sure your body will heal, so I undertook the pilgrimage to Denny's that Sunday morning. The place wasn't too badly packed as most of the after-Church crowd were still sitting in pews across the Twin Cities area. I waited to be seated and, soon, eased myself into a booth where I could relax, sip some orange juice and order a Grand Slam.
Curiously, the service I experienced was more typical of the Denny's I visited while vacationing in Sunnyvale, California a few years ago (remind me to tell you about the surly waitresses some time), and I was quickly descending into a dismal malaise over the slow ordering and non-plussed service. I began feeling a bit better when I felt the need to adjourn to the bathroom; anyone who has ever woken up sick in the morning with a cold knows the feeling.
After about ten minutes getting my bearings, I returned to my table to find my backpack still leaning up against the booth, my un-eaten breakfast cleared away and a couple sitting where I had been sipping coffee. By this time, the restaurant was filling up and a swift, albeit sick, complaint to the management had them apologize and tell me they'd seat me in the next available booth if only I would take a seat.
Perhaps it is unfair to combine my own illness with the service at Denny's that day, but I felt a bit angered that I would be told that I would have to sit and wait to get my food *again* on a morning where I had come in to eat and relax because I had been feeling too ill to cook for myself.
Oh, I still go to some Denny's around the 'Cities, but not that one. Never that one, again.
I'm sorry this is a rather un-inspiring tale, but I thought I'd share it with you..."

- "I wish Denny's did have an official site--I think there are a lot of loyal customers that would love to e-mail them. There were no Denny's nearby in Minnesota until a few years ago and now they're poppin' up everywhere. But I had never been to one until today and I could kick myself for ever going anywhere else. We had excellent service, a great server and great food, to say nothing of the great prices. I love that country gravy they use on 90% of their breakfasts. And my 5 year old ate like she was starving-and for a 5 year old- that's a miracle. We ate at Denny's on Highway 10 in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. I see there's only one for MN in your list, so here's another. No need to reply, but this place was so great after eating at Stuart Anderson's CAttle Company (they also own Black Angus restaurants) and paying $40 for crappy service and REALLY crappy food, I can only say good things about Denny's, and they deserve it. So, if you ever get around to it, try it in Minnesota!!!!!!!" - written prior to September, 1999

Minneapolis, Minnesota
- December 12, 2000 - "Being a sophomore in college, the late night run to find coffee to keep the midnight oil burnig, often brings me to Denny's. My friends and I will jump into my car and speed to the nearest Haven of freshly brewed "go-juice" (as we call it) and kick off a night (mostly morning) of studying. Denny's has been the choice, but some times the wait is ridiculous, therefore we then travel to Perkins. Well, now you can add the Twin Cities to the list...happy traveling...
p.s. The decor of the Denny's ala Minneapolis is quite nice. Mostly the trademark blue and gold, but also includes a bakery and an ice cream shoppe selling the local "Blue Bell" ice cream. the atmosphere is nice, except for the overly pompous waitor, whom spends more time making sure his hair is nice for the ladies than he does getting the orders right...fairwell from the TC's (Twin Cities)...go forth and do good things..."

- July 6, 2004 - "I don tknow if you have anything to do with all Dennys but we went to the one in roseville, mn last week . It took us over 2 hours to get our food,, then the food wasnt right ,,some stuff we ordered we didnt get,,,then was charge for stuff we didnt order. I was very unhappy,,there was 1 server and he was trying so hard to keep up with everyone but couldnt,,people were walking out. We could of walked out on the bill cause no one was there to take our money,, but we were honest and waited for about 20 mins for someone to come and check us out. Need less to say I dont know if I will be back to this dennys or not."
