Des Moines, Iowa

"I was just at a Denny's in Des Moines, IA (or "Entertainment Capital of the Greater Midwest" as I like to call it) over spring break, and had the Super Bird . . . It wasn't all that super, but the mozzarella sticks were damn good, even two hours later in the motel room after they grown cold and congealed . . . But anywho, just thought I'd share my encounter with Denny's . . ." - written prior to September, 1999

"We're from Omaha, Nebraska, but the Denny's on Merle Hay Road just off of I-80 in Des Moines, Iowa, is part of our yearly ritual. Every early summer we go to Des Moines to take our kids to Adventureland (amusement park). We hit Adventureland when it's open, grab some greasy burgers and fries at the Sodas and Songs booth, and stay until it closes. When we get outa there, we're tired, thirsty, and hungry. What better time than to hit our favorite Denny's? We have never, never, never, ever had bad service at this Denny's. The food is always good. And get this -- we usually recognize one or two of the waiters from one year to the next. What? No turnover? Something's wrong here. What's wrong is that everything is right.
