- " sent you feedback in 2002 to express pleasure upon seeing your Costa Rica reviews. Now, I am saddened to see that you are nearing the end of Project Denny's. It's crushing to see such a glorious Gen-X slacker dream fade away. I saw my slacker-party life come to a screeching halt in November of 2002. I, like you, was among the legions of unemployed/underemployed that year. I found myself limited to the gloomy options of either growing up or starving. Since January of 2002, I have had stable employment that sustains me, but life sure gets dull as I approach my 30th b-day. It's good to see that the site is still up, as it reminds me of the good times and the easy going life I had a few short years ago. I hope it will remain posted on the internet as a piece of history, even if you stop doing reviews."

- "It's 3:00AM in the morning. I just got back from Denny's and decided to go on the net because I was bored. I'd never been to your site before. Now that I have, I realize that going to every Denny's in the US is entirely pointless. I used to think that it would be an interesting thing to do... now I realize that it wouldn't be. You missed out big in Reno by the way... The Denny's on Well's off of I-80 has got to be the best. It has nothing to do with the restaurant itself either. Most of the atmosphere of a place depends on the people there, as I'm sure you know by now. I know that I would get bored just meeting random waiters and waitresses. There's never really anything interesting happening unless its after midnight anyways. I wouldn't be able to stand going into a place over and over, and still never really knowing anyone there or being recognised as a regualar"

- "Wow, I can't believe your web site. At first I was reading soemthing on the site. I don't remember exactly where I entered first, but I was getting so mad and thought it was just a Denny's bashing site. But, I read more, and was delighted that there were actually great things said about us on there also. And yes, I said us. I am 25 years old, and have worked for Denny's for over 9 years now. I actually work at a Denny's that you've been to, and sad that I missed you. But I pretty much only work on Sat. and Sun mornings. I was trying to do some searching online about my Denny's-- the history of the building ect... We are located on 11th St. in Tulsa, OK. This also is the old Route 66. I was wanting to make our Deny's in to sort of a Route 66 Denny's with Route 66 memorablia. I don't know if our GM and franchise owners woudl even let us do that, but sounded interesting to me anyway. Sooo, that is how I ended up on your site. I haven't been at this Denny's the whole time. Before we moved here, I worked at a Denny's in Bremerton WA. Which unfortunatley is now a Nicklebee's. What ever that is. I was too sad and didn't go in while on vacation this summer. Anyway, thanks for your site."

- "Moons Over My Hammy
It was fun
Laughing at the tables with no tips
For about a week.
If it was TV
It was hilarious
Was this my life?
A waitress "job".
I thought to myself
I must be doing something wrong
Perhaps it is my greeting.
Hello
Hi
Hey
How are you
How ya doing
So many books
So much advice
How to greet
How to be
So, I made sure to look extra spiffy
and watched the other servers
to try to learn
how they served to earn tips.
What was I doing wrong?
Perhaps it was the coffee cups
They should all be placed
on the table at 45 degrees.
Two O'clock, with a napkin
A spoon atop.
I should have the coffee ready
At all times for the customers
When they arrive and open the door
I should place myself in their shoes.
The guests must be treated properly.
100% Colombian Roast
Pure beans
Freshly brewed
Good water
In a clean coffee pot
Steaming hot coffee
Offer a bit of time after the drink
Give a choice -
"Would you like to order now? -
Or - do you need some more time..."
The best server said that, and always
received great tips.
I watched, and memorized the condiments
that customers would request
Beside the food.
I would up-sell eggs to
"Moons Over My Hammy" TM
and the entire table would laugh.
The sugars would always be full,
as must be the salt and pepper.
If the bussers did not have time
Then, it is time to move away
the plates without whining.
Most of the customers liked that
Or, at least they acted like they did
Until they left, and I was serving
Another table - then I saw the bill
Vanish into the server's hand.
Again, from across the room -
The busser, sweeping the money
Along with the coffee cups into the pan.
My jaw dropped slightly -
I, too full of tea to notice beforehand.
The calculations swept me out the door."

- "LTNS! LoL, I see you've expanded your view of the country since we last met. I just thought I'd let you know, all the Denny's stores in the Dayton area, with the exception of south Main, have closed, including the Springfield store. As I just came back upon your site, I thought I'd share this info with you. As for Mary and myself, We've been fine, we loaded everything into a store and lock for a few years, and went "On the road", as Truck drivers, and we've since been to all 48 states and Canada. We've been to some of the Denny's that you've visited too, La$ Vega$ was a frequent stop for us too... Well, we've settled in Columbus, Oh now, (about 3 years), but I've yet to find a Denny's here... Hey, Take care Truck PS. I looked at the site not too long after the Springfield visit, we LOL'ed for a while about your review, Especially the Phil Donahue remark about Carol..."

- "It's been my experience that the actual food on my plate at Denny's rarely resembles the menu photo. Just curious what your evaluation is of all those Denny's hot plates you have been served. What percentage actually look like the picture, and what's the most notorious mangled dish? A tally would be amusing. Be careful out there. :)"

- "I was looking around your site, and I was wondering if you could help me. Well, actually, a friend of mine. He lives in Florida, and at this point, after 2 hurricanes within so few days and his area not looking to be as much fun to live in anymore, he's looking for a change. He works for a corporately owned Denny's in Winterhaven, Fla., and he says that he can transfer to another Denny's that's also corporate. Thus, giving him a bit of an easier start someplace not quite so prone to hideous natural disasters. I live in Washington state (where he lived for a time, and he did like it here), and I was wondering if you know how I'd go about looking for any corporate restaurants around here."

- "Hi - ran into your site while looking for a Dennys. How do you get in touch with the powers to be to find out why they don't have more Dennys in the Atlanta area. It is my favorite restaurant and when on vacation I make sure I hit them for the breakfast lunch and dinner stops. We are in desperate need of one on the East side of town - off I-20 in the Conyers area which is growing and also at the new Stonecrest Mall at Turner Hill Exit. Hotels have been built for travelers and they need a Dennys. I would beg if you can tell me who to contact."

- "I needed a place to voice my frustration. Myself growing up in the world of late night hunger attacks at the all famous Denny's restaurant. I've eaten moons over my-hammy to their great buffalo chicken. I even admit to running out on a check once or twice. I guess it's all in the process of growing up.
What I really wanted tonight after some long lost drinking was a nice patty-melt. The lights were on so I pulled into the Cocoa Beach Denny'sÊdown in Florida. I'd eaten there recently, so I knew what I was getting into. Not quite the straight ticket as far as dietary concerns go. How fast an appetite can change when under duress. So this being the Holy weekend and all I decided to order fish. "They give you garlic bread with the fish platter here." Instead of fries I had some ''tart' onion rings. And green beans in place of the cole slaw. And lets not forget the "fresh" tomato-juice, I ordered a large - thirsty man I am.
To put it shortly - I was very angry and disappointed. So mad I dropped my last remaining green been in the small ice-water the elegant waiter brought me - just to make a statement.
Couldn't help it I was just a little rude tonight.
Is it just me, or have I lead a sheltered Denny's existence, through my previous years, as a wholesome food patron, in the late night jungle?"

- "In my opinion Denny's sucks at times..... and at others they are good. You just have to find the right one to go to, thats all it is to it. Once i found a hair in my food and i was like o shit I WILL NOT eat hear anymore so you can imagine my feelings when we pulled up the a differnt Denny's... i was very weary... but who wouldnt be? Some Denny's has the worst service and others have ok service. the waitresses are never in a hurry and you always have to sit and wait a long time. i dont think i have ever been to a Denny's and the service was the best. i live in South Carolina by the way. maybe yall should do something about the service because most of the time it is the pitts."

- "WHOA!!
Today, obviously, is the first time I've looked at your site in a couple of years.
Out of curiosity I looked for a review of Arizona, cause my mom is from Nogales and her sisters live in Tucson.
You know the ones you have a review for Green Valley and Nogales?
Well, when I was about 8 or 9 (over 30 years ago), I recall my family and I stopping at one of those two spots (I forget which), and it originally was a SAMBO'S restaurant.
I remember a VERY uncomfortable situation ensuing because of the name and all. My mom and sister got into a really long discussion of the image of the Black Sambo stories showing some derogatory cartoon images of a black child, and they pointed out to me that this cartoon image was everywhere in the place; on the menus, in some framed decorative prints on the walls, and on the big plastic sign out front. They went on and on to me about the underlying racism in such stereotypes having been prevalent at the time the Sambo story was popular, originally from the 20's and 30's.
I am sure they meant this to be educational, but they scared the be Jesus out of me. After their "educational" talk to me about the Sambo imagery and all that, I thought for sure the KKK was gonna come out at any moment and lynch all three of us before we got to our Grandma's house in Nogales.
After all that, I recall the waitress, a blond white lady, being really sweet and friendly to us when taking our order, and my mom kind of glaring at her.
I'm convinced that we were only there because there was literally no other restaurants around, except for some scary looking cowboy bar across the street that I think served food. The waitress, God bless her, had no idea about what was going through any of our minds. For her, I'm sure it was the only job she could get in that Podunk town, and maybe a good paying one at the time, at that.
I dunno, but this all stuck with me because to this day, when we all visit Nogales from Tucson, and on our drive on the interstate we pass that spot, I am afraid to go in there. For no good reason. Anyhow, just some pre-Denny's information for ya."

Every once and a while I go to the search page and see if they have opened one near a town where I might actually have heard of but so far no luck. I saw your site and decided that your quest deserved a look. Thanks for the good laugh. Someday I'll get to order the two moons over my hammy. Till then we all must hold onto a dream~!"

- "From the Denny's I have visited (Pittsburgh and Fort Lauderdale) I noticed they both put the COMPLETE charge card number AND expiration date on the printed receipt. This seems like a blatant security flaw to me and must be a national thingÊand I'll be seeking other restaurants in the future. If you go to a Denny's by all means pay cash only."
